IDSIA USI - SUPSI
IDSIA USI-SUPSI (Istituto Dalle Molle di Studi sull’Intelligenza Artificiale), founded in 1988 in Lugano, Switzerland, is a leading research institute jointly affiliated with Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and SUPSI. Since its establishment, IDSIA has been dedicated to advancing Artificial Intelligence, evolving from pioneering research in neural networks and machine learning to the development of intelligent systems addressing complex real-world challenges.
The institute specializes in machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, robotics, computer vision, and optimization, combining theoretical excellence with practical applications across domains such as energy, mobility, healthcare, and smart systems. Its interdisciplinary approach ensures the transfer of cutting-edge research into impactful, scalable solutions.
IDSIA actively participates in European research and innovation programmes, including Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, contributing to the development of trustworthy, efficient, and sustainable AI technologies. Contribution to the project:
IDSIA USI-SUPSI contributes to the development of the ENERGENIUS GURU by providing key expertise in explainable artificial intelligence and human–AI interaction.
In particular, it supports the design of intuitive and user-friendly interfaces that transform the complexity of decision support algorithms into clear, understandable, and transparent recommendations for residential energy management and energy efficiency, enabling users to interact naturally with the system and to understand the reasoning behind the suggested actions.
